How your wages are figured
Your average weekly wage is your total wages from the employer where you were hurt during the 52 calendar weeks before the injury, divided by the number of weeks you worked. If you also worked for other employers and your wage from the injury employer is not enough to reach the maximum, wages from all your jobs can count (the extra part is paid by the Second Injury Fund). Tell the insurer your federal tax filing status.
How long it can last
Total incapacity benefits are paid for as long as you are totally unable to work. The insurer cannot stop or cut them without filing a Form 36 notice and getting a judge's approval.
Temporary total disability pays 75% of your average weekly wage after federal and state income taxes, Social Security (FICA) and Medicare are taken out, using your federal tax filing status. The WCC publishes tables that set the exact amount. For injuries from October 1, 2026, through September 30, 2027, the most you can get is $1,776 a week (equal to the state average weekly wage) and the least is $355.20 a week, but not more than 75% of your average weekly wage.
Law: Conn. Gen. Stat. §§ 31-307(a), 31-309, 31-310
For injuries from October 1, 2026, through September 30, 2027, the maximum weekly benefit rose to $1,776 (state average weekly wage) and the minimum to $355.20; the partial-disability maximum is $1,175. Form 30C was revised June 14, 2024, and since October 1, 2025 forms can be filed with the WCC online.
